It's funny how your mood can effect the way you hear music sometimes. Last week was one of those weeks when you fear that the decent tunes you have to pick from aren't going to be enough make the kind of show I like to be able to. Maybe it was the tension of getting ready to be a real live DJ for once, or the epic trawl through all the tunes I had to select the right ones, whatever!
Come Sunday, when all the week was behind me and I sat down to pick the final selections it just came together, deep and luscious, rich and all the things I like to hear - what was I worrying about? The lesson I've learnt is two-fold. 1. You can feel a song in 30 seconds of it (never trust those digital store previews!) and 2. to truly appreciate the music you have to be in the moment, and ready to enjoy the mood.
